Conditions:
1. For Ponies please state HOYS ID numbers and the pony's Breed Society Registration Number on the Entry, (this is not their NPS/ BSPS/ UKPH/ TSR number).
For Highland Ponies: "ponies must be registered in the full body of the Highland Pony Society Stud Book.
All competing Highland pony stallions (In Hand, Ridden, WHP etc) aged 4yrs and over must be licensed with the Highland Pony Society"
Connemara Ponies - can be registered with either BCPS (or CPBS if residing in the UK for less than 30 days) but must be registered correctly as adults (ie not on a G3, M3 or S3 registration).

2. The following classes are qualifiers for the National Pony Society/Baileys Horse Feeds Mountain & Moorland Ridden Pony of the Year Championship, N.E.C., Birmingham, 5 - 9 October 2022. This competition is open to stallions, mares and geldings, four years old and over, to be registered in, and complying with the requirements of, the main body of their respective stud books. Partbreds and mares with a living foal born during the current season are not eligible to compete. To be run as scheduled. Riders can be of any age with the exception of those riding stallions who must have attained their 12th birthday (small breeds) or 14th birthday (large breeds) before 1st January in the current year. Correct riding attire must be worn, spurs are not allowed and whips must not exceed 30". Ponies must not exceed the height limits as stipulated by the relevant breed societies. Riders and Owners must be members of their respective Breed Society, NPS, UKPH, The Showing Register, or BSPS.

Judges may only judge one Horse of the Year Show M&M Ridden qualifying competition during the current year

Marks will be awarded in the following way:
Show/Freedom of Action: Maximum 50
Breed Type/Conformation: Maximum 50

In the case of equality the pony with the highest show, freedom of action mark will be deemed the winner. If there is still equality at this point then the judges decision will be final.
The highest placed animal (not already qualified) from the first three in the final judging will qualify for Horse of the Year Show 2022, subject to verification of qualification from the Horse of the Year Show Office. Qualification will not pass 3rd place. This is a Horse of the Year Show Qualifier, all data given upon entry of this class is provided to Grandstand Media Limited and stored on the Grandstand Entries System. These classes will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from www.hoys.co.uk

Please note: All Animals competing in Mountain and Moorland Ridden classes will be required to be in possession of a current/ valid JMB height certificate within 28 days of the notification of qualification from HOYS or by the closing date of HOYS entries, whichever is sooner. Failure to do so may result in qualification of the pony being removed, at the discretion of GML. JMB certificates are not required to enter this qualifier.

3. A Special Rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Member from B.S.P.S. Area 4b in ALL Classes - Eligible competitors must wear a GREEN armband.

4. A Breed Rosette to the highest placed registered pony of each breed: Welsh A, B, C, D, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Connemara, Dales, Dartmoor, Exmoor. Owners must be a current member of their respective Breed Society unless exempt and membership Cards (if issued by the Society) produced in the ring or provision of their Membership Number.


Qualifiers:
a) Horse of the Year Show Qualifier 2022 - National Pony Society/Baileys Horse Feeds Mountain & Moorland Ridden Pony of the Year Horse of the Year Show Qualifying Round. Classes 142-145 and 147-150 are qualifiers for Horse of the Year Show, to be held from Wednesday 5 - 9 October 2022 at the NEC, Birmingham. The highest placed horse/ pony (not already qualified) from the first three in the final judging will qualify, subject to verification from the Horse of the Year Show Office. These classes will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from

b) The B.S.P.S. Classic Services Group Challenge - All summer qualifying shows that are affiliated to the B.S.P.S. are qualifiers for the "The B.S.P.S. Challenge". Animals must qualify for the Challenge by attending any B.S.P.S affiliated Show and competing in the appropriate class. Ponies must not have qualified for the 2022 Horse of the Year Show in the appropriate class.

c) This show is a qualifier for the 2022 TSR NAF Five Star Showing Finals - the following classes 142-145 and classes 147-150 are qualifiers. You do NOT have to be a TSR member to qualify or enter a final. The Rider/Handler qualifies and can enter any horse/pony in any number of Finals! The 4 highest placed handlers/riders will qualify in each class.
Competitors MUST have their card signed by judge/steward/secretary, cards are available FREE from the TSR website.

d) Special Prizes - A Breed Rosette to the highest placed registered pony of each breed: Welsh A, B, C, D, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Connemara, Dales, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland. Owners must be a current member of their respective Breed Society and membership Cards (if issued by the Society) produced in the Ring.

e) The B.S.P.S. "Binks Family" Show Champion of Champions - This Show is a qualifier for the B.S.P.S. Binks Family Champion of Champions. The 1st prize winners of classes 142 to 145 and 147 to 150 will qualify.

f) Classes 142-145 and 147-150 are qualifiers for the NPS/Ringside Stud M&M Open Ridden National Championship. The owner's membership card must be shown in the ring to receive qualification.

g) Class 144 is a qualifier for the National Ridden Section A Championship
Class 145 is a qualifier for the National Ridden Section B Championship
Class 147 is a qualifier for the National Ridden Section C Championship
Class 148 is a qualifier for the National Ridden Section D Championship
All of these championships take place at The National Welsh Championship Show: Malvern, 7 August, 2022 and are sponsored by The Brynseion Stud. All 1st & 2nd placed exhibits (not already qualified), qualify to enter.

(The fee includes a £16 Horse of the Year Show contribution)
