BREWIN DOLPHIN PRIVATE DRIVING The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society acknowledges the kind sponsorship by Brewin Dolphin in the Private Driving Classes. Judge: Mr P Mills Dedham, COLCHESTER Judging will take place in the Main Ring in the morning of Wednesday 19th June. (Classes 84 and 85 will leave the stable area 10-15 minutes after classes 82 and 83.) A maximum of 2 classes will be permitted to trot round the Main Ring at any one time. Conditions: This Show is affiliated to the British Driving Society and these classes will be run in accordance with BDS procedures. Private Driving - Singles, Pairs and Multiples Horse or Pony driven to a traditional type vehicle. A traditional vehicle means a vehicle of traditional profile and identifiable type to resemble the design of a carriage built prior to the First World War. The vehicle may be made from modern materials but must have traditional style springing and carriage lamps. Pneumatic tyres vehicles, trade turnouts and show wagons are not eligible. 1. Nomination entries are not accepted. 2. Vehicles must be of a suitable type for road use and match the horse (Commercial vehicles and Show Wagons not allowed). 3. Horses and ponies must be four years old or over. 4. Competitors should ensure that they are adequately covered by Third Party Insurance. 5. Any driver under the age of 18 should be accompanied by an adult. Qualifiers: a) Osborne Refrigerators BDS Championship. Classes 82, 83, 84 and 85 are qualifiers for the 2013 Osborne Refrigerators BDS National Championships (The final of the Championships will take place at Driving Addington, Addington Equestrian Centre, nr. Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire on 21st September 2013). The highest placed turnout/s owned and driven by a member of the British Driving Society and eligible for the following Type- Section/s, disregarding those already qualified down to 6th place in the class will qualify. The Championship will immediately follow the Semi-Finals. (a) Single hackney-type (b) Single non-hackney-type (excluding purebred Registered Welsh) over 13.2hh (c) Single non-hackney-type (excluding purebred Registered Welsh) 13.2hh & under. (i) Pairs & tandems - open.Any height. b) Horse of the Year Show Qualifier 2013. Class C89 is a qualifier for the Harness Championship at the 2013 Horse of the Year Show to be held from 9th to 13th October. Qualification will be awarded to the highest placed turnout in the Private Driving Championship down to 6th place, disregarding those already qualified. Judging Criteria: The best horse/ponies irrespective of size, correctly and smartly harnessed to a sound, suitable and well maintained traditional type vehicle , suitable for a competent whip to drive in company. Exhibitors must be fully paid up members of the British Driving Society to be eligible for class C87. The driver must be aged 15 years or over on the first day of the show at which they are to compete. The groom/s and passenger/s on competing turnouts must all be aged 11 years or over on the first day of the show. A driver under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied in the vehicle by a competent and responsible person aged 18 years or over. Please note the change in rules for 2013 to reach. The driver must be aged 10 years or over on the first day of the show at which they are to compete. A driver under the age of 18 must be accompanied in the vehicle by a competent and responsible person aged 18 years or over, a "responsible adult". Proof of age will be required if necessary. All exhibitors must be the bona fide property of a member of the British Driving Society and driven by a member of the British Driving Society. The Combination of horses/ponies, vehicle and driver that qualifies must be the same at the 2013 Horse of the Year Championship. The vehicle must be a traditional style vehicle. Please Note: Exhibitors who are not members of the British Driving Society may enter these classes, however they may not qualify for the Osborne Refrigerators BDS Championship or the Horse of the Year Show. Please include your membership number on your entry form or state that you are not a member. When competing at the Show please carry your British Driving Society membership card. ENTRY FEES Members Non-Members £34 £40 (These fees include a £11 Horse of the Year Show contribution). PRIZE MONEY 1st, £40; 2nd, £30; 3rd, £25; 4th, £20; 5th, £15.
