MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND PONY OF THE YEAR 2012 - HOYS QUALIFIER
NPS/BAILEYS HORSE FEEDS MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND PONY OF THE YEAR HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW QUALIFIERS Judges: Conformation: Mrs R Bown CHESHAM, Bucks. Performance: Mr R L Miller FERRYSIDE, Carmarthenshire Conditions: Classes 142 to C149 will be judged under the Horse of the Year Show rules. 1. This competition is open to stallions, mares and geldings, four years old and over, to be registered in the main body of their respective stud books. Part breds and mares with a living foal born during the current season are not eligible to compete. 2. Ponies must not exceed the height limits as stipulated by the relevant Breed Societies. 3. Ponies that qualify for the Championship at Horse of the Year Show 2012 must hold a valid JMB Full Height or Annual Certificate, a copy of which must be sent at the time of entry to Horse of the Year Show. JMB Certificates are not required to enter this qualifier. 4. Riders can be of any age with the exception of those riding stallions who must have attained their 12th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Correct riding attire must be worn, spurs are not allowed and whips must not exceed 30". Riders and/or Owners in cases of a junior member being the rider must be members of their respective breed society, NPS, Ponies (UK) or BSPS. 5. Riders must be members of their respective breed society, NPS, Ponies (UK) or B.S.P.S. 6. Judges may only judge one qualifier during the current year and marks will be awarded as follows: Show, freedom of action - 50 marks Breed, type, conformation - 50 marks In the case of equality, the pony with the highest show, freedom of action mark will be deemed the winner. Split Classes 1. Where there are more than 20 entries forward in a class, judges may split the class into sections according to the circumstances on the day. 2. Each section must be marked and the top five ponies with the highest marks should go forward to a final judging. The marks are not to be displayed at this point and no rosettes awarded. 3. For the final judging the top ponies should be invited back into the ring and lined up in any order. No further show will be given. 4. The judges should then refer to their original marks. In the case of equality the pony with the highest show, freedom and action mark will be deemed the winner. If there still be equality at this point, then the judges' decision will be final. 5. The highest place animal (not already qualified) from the first three in the final judging will qualify for HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW, subject to verification of qualification from the HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW office. Qualifiers: a) Horse of the Year Show Qualifier 2012 - The Mountain and Moorland Pony of the Year Horse of the Year Show Qualifying Round. Classes 142-147 are qualifiers for the Horse of the Year Show, to be held from 3rd - 7th October, 2012 at the NEC Birmingham. The highest placed horse/pony (not already qualified) from the first three in the final judging will qualify. b) The 'Torne Valley' Supreme Ridden Mountain & Moorland Championship. The FINAL to be held at the North of England In Hand and Mountain & Moorland Championship Show on 15th July 2012, kindly sponsored by 'Torne Valley Farm & Country Stores' Tickhill, Doncaster (01302 756000) www.tornevalley.com (Prize Money at the FINAL 1st £1000, 2nd £400, 3rd £100, 4th £50, 5th £25, 6th £25, 7th £25, 8th £25 Sashes to the Champion & Reserve, Rosettes to all other prize winners and finalists). The Champion Open Ridden M&M will qualify from C149. If the Champion has already qualified then the Reserve Champion will go forward. Only the Champion or Reserve Champion will Qualify.
